All of our experiences are completely private, so when you book, it’s just you and your chosen guests in the studio. No strangers, no sharing, just relaxed, quality time in a welcoming space.

We love to take a few photos during the workshop to share the magic of the day on our website and social media (and we’ll send them to you, too, as a lovely memento). But if you'd prefer not to be photographed, just let us know, we’re happy to keep things completely private.

Exclusive Claddagh Ring Making Experience
Make your own Claddagh Ring in Holywood, Northern Ireland
At NI Silver, we are about making memories and having a laugh whilst you, and your special other, make your very own Irish Claddagh Rings.
In our "Make Your Own Claddagh Ring" experience it is just you and your special other in our workshop, and home, for the duration of your jewellery making. You can relax and enjoy the use of our professional grade jeweller's workstations and equipment as Ruth gives you her undivided attention.
We believe that you will have a much more enjoyable, peaceful and personalised experience if we restrict the numbers. Ruth, our Goldsmith, is able to provide a much higher level of instruction with this size of group and can quickly see if you need a gentle 'nudge' to keep your jewellery creation on track.
Our very small group, only 2 people, creates for a more relaxing experience for just you and your other.
Another of the bonuses of booking with us is that you can then relax, as your jewellery has a final polish, looking at our fabulous views across Belfast Lough.
If you're a larger family or group, we're happy to accommodate you by special arrangement.
You will be using our unique 3D Claddagh design, which sits raised on your finger when compared to the usual flat designs.

Breathtaking Setting
Our light-filled hill-side studio overlooks Belfast Lough and the Antrim coast. A view that has to be seen to be believed. Although we are located near Belfast, we're a 15 minute drive from Belfast City and a short stroll from Marino station or the Culloden Hotel & Spa. Belfast City Airport is only 10mins away.
How It Works
1. The Big Make (10 am – 12:30 pm)
Arrive, pop on an apron and dive in. Under Ruth's calm guidance you'll turn raw metal into shining Claddagh rings plain, hammered, or patterned.
2. After-Care & Extras
- Hallmarking – We can fast-track your rings to the Assay Office (additional fee), but will require posting the rings to you later (additional fee).
- Engraving – Add dates, initials or secret symbols - Ruth will quote on request.
- Photos – We'll send a selection of fun workshop shots so you can relive the magic (and share on socials!).

Set in our peaceful studio in the stunning Holywood Hills, overlooking Belfast Lough, this hands-on workshop invites you to relax, get creative, and make something truly personal.
Your Private Studio Experience
What makes our experience truly special? It's just for you and your special other. When you book a session, the studio is yours, no strangers, no shared bookings. Whether you come with a partner or family member, the workshop is entirely private. You'll enjoy your creative time together in a calm, welcoming space, guided every step of the way by Ruth, our expert and friendly goldsmith.
Perfect for Every Occasion
This experience is perfect for all sorts of occasions, Christmas gifts, birthdays, Valentine's Day, Mother's or Father's Day, family bonding time, friends' reunions, hen parties, bridal parties, or even a treat while your other half is off golfing!
No previous experience is needed, just bring your curiosity and a sense of fun. Ruth will teach you the basics of traditional jewellery making and help you design and create a beautiful silver piece you'll be proud to wear (or gift!).

Workshop Details
Workshops run from 10:00am to 1:30pm and we prefer to host just 2 people at a time.

We'll schedule a phone, Zoom or in-person consultation to nail down widths, profiles, finger sizes and metal choice. Once the design is set we pre-order your silver (or gold). If you cancel after this planning session a small admin fee covers time already spent.
2. The Big Make (10 am – 1:30 pm)
Arrive, pop on an apron and dive in. Under Ruth's calm guidance you'll turn raw metal into shining bands plain, hammered, or patterned. Celebrate your handiwork with a free glass of fizz while the polishers spin.
3. After-Care & Extras
- Hallmarking – We can fast-track your rings to the Assay Office (additional fee).
- Engraving – Add dates, initials or secret symbols - Ruth will quote on request.
- Free Resize – One free adjustment in the weeks before the wedding, handy if you made the rings months ahead.

A Creative Afternoon at Traceys Farmhouse Kitchen
Come and join Ruth and Tracey for a relaxed and memorable afternoon at Traceys Farmhouse Kitchen, where two creative worlds come together. This is a gentle blend of hands on making, good food, and that lovely feeling of being welcomed into a real home.
Make Your Own Silver Heart Charm
We will begin by guiding you through the simple joy of stamping your own little silver heart charm. It is a small piece with a lot of meaning, and you can wear it on a necklace or bracelet, or gift it to someone who would smile to receive something made by you. Ruth will show you the tools and the technique, and you will walk away with a tiny treasure that carries your own mark.
Traditional Bannock Baking
Then Tracey will bring you into her world of honest traditional baking. Sleeves rolled up, you will make a bannock using her tried and trusted recipe. It is the kind of bake that fills the room with warmth long before it reaches the table.
A Warm Welcome
When you arrive you will be welcomed with a glass of warm spiced apple drink, while a fresh bannock comes out of the oven. The house will smell like childhood memories and family gatherings.
Perfect for Special Moments
This experience is a lovely way to spend time with those special to you or as a 'time out' for yourself. So come and stamp a little silver charm and make your own homemade bannock, in the company of two makers who love what they do. It is simple, friendly, and full of heart.

Jewellery Making Experiences
Become part of the history, landscape and crafting heritage of Northern Ireland as you join family or friends to forge memories together in precious metal, amongst the majestic Holywood hills. Relax and enjoy the best of everything that this wonderful place has to offer by joining loved ones to create your own piece of jewellery using ancient traditional skills, before enjoying amazing homely hospitality and refreshments in a beautiful setting.
With no experience necessary, Goldsmith Ruth, a member of the National Association of Jewellers, will guide you on your journey and help you with your design as you craft your own unique pieces together in your personalised workshop experience - take a look at our options and the dates available below.
If you want to buy an experience for someone else and don't know what date they will want, then our Gift Vouchers are great for presents.
These gift vouchers will be an electronic code but please let us know if you want an old-fashioned paper certificate to present to them and we will post one to you or the recipients, just let us know during the 'checkout'.
What do I need to do next to book My Experience?
Use any of the options above to select your preferred package, your preferred date, what you want to make, with who and any special requirements. We will then get in touch with you via email to confirm the booking.
Or if you don't know the date for your experience then purchase the Gift Vouchers for the experience option and number of people attending and we will arrange a suitable date with the recipient.
We normally cater for between 1 and 3 people, but we can accommodate larger groups up to 5 people making jewellery if you have a special occasion to celebrate. Just contact ruth@nisilver.com with the details.
Studio tours for larger groups are also available where Ruth can talk you through the process of jewellery making. Giving guests an insight into how a professional goldsmith manages the stages of work that go into making a piece of jewellery.
However, the larger groups will not currently leave with a personally made piece of jewellery, but we are working on that.
We do however, have a gift shop so private purchases can be made and all payment methods are acceptable.
What do I need to bring?
Only a camera or phone to help capture your memories and laughter of your quality time with Ruth, your family and friends. All materials, machinery, tools and refreshments are included.
How long will it take?
Our Jewellery Making Experiences last between 3.5 and 4.5 hours depending on which package you choose. The time will fly by and we are relaxed about the timings, so let us know if you have other plans we need to work around.
Do I need any experience?
No experience is required as Ruth will explain everything and should you want her to will even do some of the bits if you would rather not do. Ruth has a natural talent of putting people at ease and any thoughts of 'I'm not very creative' will quickly disappear as you relax and enjoy the 'Craic' as the laughter levels increase in our workshop.
Where is NI Silver?
We are located in the beautiful Holywood Hills, County Down, BT18. We will send you our full address once your booking has been confirmed. We are less than 10 minutes from Belfast if the traffic is behaving itself.
What can I make?
You can make textured rings, bangles, pendants or earrings. These experiences have been designed for complete beginners. Ruth will take the time to explain the different making processes before you safely get involved. These experiences have been designed to fit in the 3-4 hours, so unfortunately we do not have time to cover more advanced skills such as stone setting. If you want to use gold or other precious metals please discuss this with Ruth before your experience. (ruth@nisilver.com)
Can I bring my own design?
Of course you can, all we would ask is that you discuss your ideas with Ruth before your experience. This will allow Ruth and you to refine any design ideas, to confirm what is possible within the timescales and also ensure that Ruth has the right materials for you to work with.
Optional Extras
Chains are not included with pendants and can be bought separately - sizes 16-20 inch sterling silver snake chains in stock. We also have our own gift shop, just in case you need some other gifts :))
