Collection: Albert Clock Belfast

These quality and unique pieces of Hallmarked solid silver showcase the Albert Clock Belfast. They form part of our ‘MI-NI’ collection where pieces of jewellery have been created for each of the 6 Counties of NI.

Have you ever met anyone under the Albert Clock or used it as a reference point in your phone calls?

The legendary landmark is Belfast's very own 'Leaning Tower of Pisa’. It weighs 2000-tonnes, is 113ft tall and started to lean over almost as soon as it was built in 1865, sinking into the sands on land reclaimed from the Farset River from which the city derives its name.

A restoration project in 2002 cleaned up and stabilised the iconic structure, which leans by over 1m. The Gothic memorial originally cost £2,500, which was raised by the public to commemorate Queen Victoria’s consort, Prince Albert. As well as including a statue of the Royal, it also boasts ornately carved crowned lions, angels, gargoyles and floral decorations and the tower includes a two-tonne bell that can be heard from over eight miles away.

As well as starring in the 1947 film 'Odd Man Out' starring James Mason, local lore suggests that one enterprising sightseer observed the departure of the Titanic from the top.

Own your own piece of quirky history with a wee Albert Clock of your own.
